I spent several hours calling local orchards and I was amazed to find out there are not very many places in Lancaster County where you can actually go apple picking! But there are several that are within an hours drive—and honestly, you might want to pick one and make a day of it. Many of the places have weekend festivals, special hay rides, mazes and other events!

Masonic Village Farm Market

To pick your own apples it costs $.80/lb. You can also pick your own pumpkins for $.45/lb.

Cherry Hill Orchards Inc.

Pick your own apples is already closed for the season. You can pick your own pumpkins for $.25/lb. Hayrides are $4/person. You must take a hayride to pick the pumpkins.

Brecknock Orchard

Apple picking costs $1.45/lb ($1.20/lb if pick more than 20 pounds). You can also pick your own pumpkins, squash, gourds all of which are $.50/lb.

Brown’s Orchard

To pick your own apples you pay by the box/bag, depending how much you pick. Prices start around $7 for 1/2 peck. You can also pick your own pumpkins, and for those you pay by the size from $2-12. Hayrides are $3. You do not need to take a hayride to pick your pumpkins or apples. Located at their Yellow Church Road farm location.

Family Tree Farm

To pick your own apples the cost is $.75/lb. Right now they have cameos and fuji available for picking. To pick your own pumpkins the rate is $.47/lb.

Forge Hill

To pick apples you pay $15 for half a bushel. You can drive your car a short distance to get to the orchard where you pick the apples. No wagon ride or extra fee.

Weaver’s Orchard

To pick apples you pay by the bag. For a 10lb bag, the cost is $16 on weekdays, and 20lb bags are $24. Prices increase by $2 on the weekends. To pick your own pumpkins the price is $.59/lb.

Ontelaunee Orchards, Inc.

Apples are $1.79/lb for 24lb, or $1.29/lb for 25lb or more. You can listen to a message on their hotline to hear what varieties they are picking now. To pick your own pumpkins the price is $.49/lb for orange pumpkins and $.59/lb for specialty pumpkins.
