Have you heard of the PA Heritage Museum Pass? Folks, I think this is one of the best deals—especially if you love history, love to do educational things with your family, or are a homeschooling family! Let me show you why . . .
What does the PA Heritage Museum Pass include?
Members at the Individual and Family levels enjoy access to the Pennsylvania Trails of History (23 sites and museums), The State Museum of Pennsylvania, a one year subscription to the Pennsylvania Heritage magazine, and members-only events.
Local museums included in the Pennsylvania Trails of History include . . .
- Railroad Museum of PA
- Ephrata Cloister
- Landis Valley Museum
- Cornwall Furnace
- Daniel Boone Homestead
- and many more within an hour away!
The family membership is $75 for two (2) adults in the same household and all their children or grandchildren under the age of 18, including Planetarium shows and Curiosity Connection at The State Museum of Pennsylvania!
It gets better though!
FREE Access to over 300 Organizations in 40 States
The membership also includes Time Travelers—a FREE reciprocal membership network for historical museums, sites, and societies throughout the United States.
The Missouri History Museum created the program in 1998 so that members of historical institutions could receive exclusive benefits and privileges at museums and historical sites nationwide. Currently, the Time Travelers program includes over 300 organizations in more than 40 states across the country.
You can see the full Time Travelers list, but part of the Time Travelers program locally includes FREE admission to . . .
- The Hershey Story (Hershey)
- The National Civil War Museum (Harrisburg)
- The Star Spangled Banner Flag Museum (Baltimore, MD)
And believe it or not, the PA Heritage Museum Pass gets even better!
BOGO Pennsylvania Heritage Membership in December
Every December, the PA Heritage Foundation offers a BOGO deal on their memberships!
You can see their full list of membership options, but you’ll probably want the family membership for $75 (which includes FREE admission for all grandchildren if you gift this to a grandparent). After you click on PURCHASE THIS MEMBERSHIP it will give you instructions on how to gift the other membership to a new member.
That’s only $37.50 per membership if you share it with a friend!
I don’t make any money on this deal or promoting it—so I’m not trying to persuade you at all—but since I love to do the math, check these numbers out!
The following are admission prices for a family of five (2 adults and 3 kids between the ages of 3-11).
- State Museum ($7/adult, $5/child) = $29
- Railroad Museum of PA ($10/adult, $8/child) = $44
- Landis Valley Museum ($12/adult, $8/child) = $48
- Ephrata Cloister ($10/adult, $6/child) = $38
- Cornwall Furnace ($8/adult, $4/child) = $28
- Daniel Boone Homestead ($6/adult, $4/child) = $24
If you were to visit all 6 of these local museums on the Pennsylvania Trails of History, your total cost would be $211!
Using the December BOGO deal (and splitting it with another new family), your cost is only $37.50.
That is a savings of $173.50!
Even if you pay full price for the $75 family membership, you are still saving $136, plus you are giving yourself the option of fun, FREE, educational things to do on rainy days or on school vacation breaks.
You can buy your BOGO
PA Heritage Museum Pass on their website.
Just click here before December 31.
