10 Ways To Save Money This Summer By Planning Ahead {FREE Printable Checklist}

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Just Between Friends Lancaster. All opinions are my own.

When you look out your window, you might not believe it, but summer is definitely coming soon. Before we know it, our kids are going to be off school and home for summer break. Are you ready?

My Type-A personality loves to have a plan, and to have the plan prepared way ahead. Which is why I’m so glad the JBF Lancaster Consignment Sale is happening in just two weeks, April 5-7, 2018 at the Lanco Fieldhouse (1901 Miller Rd, East Petersburg 17520).

I have my summer prep checklist planned and ready to take with me to the sale.

1. Rainy Day Indoor Fun

Are you prepared for those rainy days? Consider having surprises on hand to reveal throughout the summer, like an indoor ball pit, new games, crafts like sewing projects, friendship bracelets or origami books, and popup tents for the little ones!

2. Sports Camps

Did you know there are several FREE and cheap summer sports clinics for kids in Lancaster County? Measure your kids feet and then double-check you have the right size soccer cleats, and shin guards.

3. Outdoor Fun

Think about everything your child will be doing outside this summer. Riding bicycle? Swimming? Visiting splash pads? Do you have everything they need for this outdoor fun? Consider bicycle helmets, swim diapers, swimsuits / rash guards, sun hats, and beach towels.

4. Driveway Fun

Tons of fun can be had in the driveway, whether its with sidewalk chalk, bubbles or rollerblades!

5. Picnics at the Park

My kids always love visiting different playgrounds on warm summer days and taking a packed lunch for a picnic. Its something special to them. Plan ahead for this. Do you have lunch boxes, a picnic blanket, a cooler or large picnic tote?

6. Family Photos

Many families choose to take family photos in the summertime. I love to plan our family photo outfits ahead of time by shopping for clothes and accessories at the consignment sale. Its easy to walk quickly through the aisles and aisles of clothing finding pieces for each child that match! Check out these styling hats I found!

7. Summer Vacation

Will you be traveling this summer? If so, be sure to grab a kids suitcase for your little one, and some activities or travel size games. Maybe you’ll need a sleeping bag where you’ll be going?

8. Summer Chores

With taking care of your yard and gardening, there is always extra work in the summer time. Get your kids excited about helping, by providing them with their own water can, gardening gloves and little shovel. Make sure you have a chore chart (you’ll find these at consignment sales too!)

9. Birthday Parties

Do you have a child with a summer birthday? Will you be hosting a party? Do you have thank you cards, favors and decorations? You’ll find all of these at the consignment sale as well.

10. Summer Reading Programs

There are several summer reading programs open to kids in Lancaster County. Plan to sign up your kids for these programs and then keep some great books on hand to read to your kids, or have your kids read on their own. This way you don’t need to risk any library fines.

I decided it would be pretty handy to be able to take this checklist with me to the sale, so I made one for you too. I would love for you to download it, print it out and make it your own tool to help you maneuver the sale and save money on your summer!
