Homeschool Trips & Classes Guide | November

Do you love to do extracurricular field trips and activities with your homeschool children, but don’t have the time to research what is happening and when?

This list is a compilation of field trip ideas, events, classes and activities to do with homeschool children of all ages. Everything is located in Lancaster County or the surrounding Central Pennsylvania region. Listings are organized in six different categories including history, science, literature, art, music and other.

We know that homeschooling, though rewarding, is exhausting and sometimes isolating, and we are passionate about providing a system of support for parents who are in this endeavor.

Each month we will collect and publish a list of all the local classes and events in the community geared towards educating homeschoolers. We hope you find something that suits your families needs and desires! Don’t forget to let Sara Lichtenwalner know if you have any additional opportunities to add to our list. We always appreciate any feedback or ways that we can better support you. Many blessings in your homeschool journey.

If you are like me, I am always trying to find ways to make history come alive for my kids. Thanksgiving has always been tough for me to find quality, historical resources, but after much research, I think I have found some excellent materials.

In hopes of supporting you, I have put those resources together, including Thanksgiving Exposed, an immersive play put on locally about the first Thanksgiving.  I hope this is an encouragement in your homeschool adventures!

  • Dayspring Christian Academy Presents: Thanksgiving Exposed
  • Audio Book: Squanto Friend of PIlgrims
  • Adventures in Odyssey Presents: Stepping Stones the Story of the Pilgrims
  • American Indian Perspectives on Thanksgiving – Harvest Ceremony “The Myth of Thanksgiving”
  • Plimoth Plantation Virtual Thanksgiving Trips
  • Plimoth Plantation Thanksgiving Interactive Program
  • Wampanoag History – This is the site of the current Wompanoag tribe and includes additional facts if you search in the drop down menu under Culture Center.

This list is a compilation of homeschool field trips, events, classes and activities for children of all ages. Most classes and events are located in Lancaster County but we do include some things that are close to or within the surrounding Central PA region. Listings are organized in six different categories including history, science, literature, art, music and other.

To make accessing the events and information easier, we have made a Google Spreadsheet that you can access and view. We will be updating this list regularly, so please bookmark this page and check back for newly added events.

Tips & Tricks to get the most out of this list…

  • Bookmark the spreadsheet page so you can check it regularly. We are always working on updating it with the newest opportunities and since we are CONSTANTLY updating this list, we’ve decided to highlight newly added programs in BLUE so they are easy for you to find!
  • Please note: at the bottom of the spreadsheet you will see all the months listed. If you want to see what’s coming next month, you can check those pages out too, we try to work ahead as far as we are able.
  • You can use the DATA > SORT menu to sort the list. It will make a temporary view for just you, so don’t worry about sorting it for whatever you need—age, day, category, location, cost—you won’t mess it up for others.
  • We’ve added a cost for each program column to our list so that you can easily sort by price as well!
  • Finally, be on the watch every other week as we highlight new or upcoming events!
