What is the Ski PA Snowpass Program?

Did you know the PA Snowpass program provides every fourth and fifth grader the opportunity to ski or snowboard for free, up to three times at 21 participating Pennsylvania area ski resorts, when accompanied by a paying adult?

GIVEAWAY!!!!! Read through the end of this post—one lucky family has the chance to win (2) Learn to Ski or Snowboard Packages (for any age child or adult)!!!!!!

During one of the many blinding snow squalls today, I found myself telling my children that the powdery type of snow that has blanketed the ground during the last few days is the perfect skiing snow.

Their excitement at this statement began my search into possibly venturing out and taking at least one of them skiing this year—but skiing is PRICEY!!

That’s why I was so excited to learn that PA offers an amazing LOW COST learn to ski program called the Ski PA Snowpass for 4th & 5th graders.

What is the Ski PA Snowpass??

This is a program developed by the Pennsylvania Ski Area Association with the intent to make it affordable for kids to stay active and get healthy with their families in the winter. The PA Snowpass program provides every fourth and fifth grader the opportunity to ski or snowboard for free, up to three times at 21 participating Pennsylvania area ski resorts, when accompanied by a paying adult.

What if my child can’t ski?

No need to worry if your child has never skied or snowboarded before, the Snowpass contains (1) FREE Learn to Ski/Board package, which includes beginner lift ticket, lesson and equipment rental with a paying adult.

What does the Snowpass include?

The Snowpass includes, one student Learn to Ski/Snowboard package (Equipment Rental, Lift Ticket, Learn to Ski Lesson) to one area of your choice and one 50% off adult learn to Ski/Snowboard package. It also includes 3 additional student lift tickets to each of the participating Ski Resorts. Student must be accompanied by a paying adult.

How do I sign up for Snowpass?

Any fourth or fifth grade student can participate by completing a simple application and providing a report card or other document verifying they are currently in the fourth or fifth grade. A photo of the student is also required. You can apply online at www.skipa.com or download an application and apply by mail. There is a nominal administration/processing fee of $40.

Quantities are limited. Snowpasses are issued on a first come, first serve basis. Details of the program including rules and black-out dates can be found on their website.

Where can the PA Snowpass be used?

The Snowpass can be used at the following Pennsylvania ski area resorts:

  • Bear Creek Mountain Resort, Macungie
  • Big Boulder Resort, Blakeslee
  • Blue Knob Resort, Claysburg
  • Blue Mountain Resort, Palmerton
  • Camelback Mountain Resort, Tannersville
  • Elk Mountain, Union Dale
  • Hidden Valley Resort, Hidden Valley
  • Jack Frost Mountain, Blakeslee
  • Laurel Mountain, Ligonier
  • Liberty Mountain Resort, Carroll Valley
  • Montage Mountain, Scranton
  • Mount Pleasant, Cambridge Springs
  • Mystic Mountain, Farmington

  • Shawnee Mountain, East Stroudsburg
  • Ski Big Bear, Lackawaxen
  • Ski Sawmill Family Resort, Morris
  • Spring Mountain, Spring Mount
  • Tussey Mountain, Boalsburg

What if the parents don’t ski or snowboard?
