For those who knit, crochet and sew, or who would like to learn!

Handwork House Presents: February Handiwork Classes

WHAT: Handwork House is a local shop that hopes to inspire and encourage the teaching and learning of all handicraft work.  Classes include, basket weaving, crocheting, knitting, baking, sewing and so many more. Handwork House has donated a FREE “how to” class of your choice! Enter a chance to win here.

Lancaster Yarn Shop – FREE Workshops

WHAT: The Lancaster Yarn Shop holds regular free handicraft workshops on how to knit, crochet, etc.

Flying Fibers Presents: Free Beginning Knitting Workshops

WHAT: So you’re ready to take the leap into learning how to knit. Let Jeri help you with that! This two hour, free beginning knitting workshop will teach you the basics of this ancient handcraft.

Joann Fabrics – Classes

WHAT:  Joann Fabrics hosts a variety of classes for kids and adults.  Classes are focused on everything from sewing, crocheting and even some cake decoration, to art and drawing.  For a list of classes at a store closest to you, check out this link.

Lancaster Creative Reuse

WHAT:  Kid Crafting Sessions – our LCR staff will guide your kiddos through different art forms and media – all with materials that were donated for creative reuse! Skill level is beginner – however, we are able to work individually with students throughout the session for novices as well.  Age focus will be 5-10, however ALL ages are welcome! STAY TUNED! Look for knitting, sewing, and crochet crash courses coming soon!

The Lancaster Public Library Presents: The Chronicles of Yarnia: A Knit & Crochet Club

WHAT: This is a weekly class held by the Lancaster Public Library for Children & Teens.  There are two groups, Beginner & Experienced. There is no cost for this group, but registration is required.

WHEN: Every Monday Night at 6:30pm

WHERE: Lancaster Public Library


Milanof-Schock Library

WHAT: Closely Knit Club.  Avid knitters or wannabes are invited to spend time at the library for Closely Knit, a group that meets twice a month at the Library to share conversation and lots of laughs while working on individual projects. If you crochet instead of knit, they’d love to have you join them! No registration is necessary.WHEN: The second Monday of every month 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
WHERE: Milanof-Schock Library

WHAT: Needle Felting Friends Club: This club is for anyone who would like to learn the art of needle felting or for needle felters who would like to work in a social setting. Basic tools and materials will be supplied for learners.
WHEN: Every third Saturday of every month 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.

WHAT: Make-it Monday’s:  Each month a new craft is planned.  Registration required.
WHEN: The fourth Monday of every month 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Columbia Public Library

WHAT: Hooked on Crocheting. Come join local crocheters and either learn the craft or expand your skills or just come for the fellowship!   
WHEN:  1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7pm – 8pm

WHAT: Nifty Needles Knitting Club: Come join local knitters and either learn the craft or expand your skills or just come for fellowship!
WHEN:  Every Thursday from 7pm – 8pm
WHERE: Columbia Public Library


Lititz Library Presents: Knitting Club

WHAT: Knitting Club is for people who knit and like to share the craft.
This is not a class or instruction, just friendly gathering to knit and work on projects. Must bring all your own supplies.  Crocheters also welcome.

WHEN: 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 10 a.m. until noon.

WHERE: Lititz Library


Ephrata Library Presents: Stitch-piration After School Sewing Club

WHAT: Students will learn how to use a simple sewing machine and develop hand-sewing skills. No experience is necessary, as we’ll help your child select a project that suits their skills and creative ability. Students can choose from patterns or bring their own to work on during the club. Ages 9-18.

WHEN: Tuesday’s at 4 or 4:30

WHERE: Ephrata Library


Quarryville Library Presents: Knitting & Crocheting Group

WHAT: This club is open to all interested knitters, crocheters, and other needle or fabric crafters.  Please join us in the Pennington conference room.

WHEN: Thursday’s from 1 – 3

ELANCO Library Presents: Hooks & Needles: Yarn Craft Club

WHAT: Are you crafty with a needle (or two)? Would you like a little company to talk shop with while you knit or crochet? Join us at the Library!

WHEN: Second Monday of every month at 6:30pm

WHERE: ELANCO Library


Elizabethtown Library Presents: Community Knitters

WHAT: Knitting enthusiasts, drop in with your current knitting or other craft project!

WHEN: 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month at 6pm

WHERE: Elizabethtown Library


Mennonite Resource Center, Ephrata

Visit the Quilt Room

The Quilt Room is a Lancaster County welcomes domestic and international tour groups throughout the year. Housed in the Material Resources Center of MCC East Coast, the Quilt Room exposes you to:

  • An array of spectacular handmade quilts some from donated textiles.
  • A hub of activity hosting hundreds of dedicated volunteers around the year.
  • A relaxed and informal atmosphere rich in fellowship.

Donate Your Time

Use your gifts! Volunteer hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Work is available for adults and children age 11 and older with many different skill levels. Please call to schedule a time to volunteer.
