Our Family Review of Gobble Meal Kits

This week we decided to try out Gobble meals. They do all the prep work for you, so meals are made in 15 minutes or less. This allows us to get outside work done all day and still have a healthy fresh meal in the evening.

Plus, I love that it enables us to try new recipes that I might otherwise not have the time to consider. And at $6 per meal, its worth it to me!

All Prep Work Done For You

I have to tell you that I was incredibly shocked at how simple these meals were. Just a few steps and maybe 1-2 pots/pans, and you’re done in 15 minutes. I expected it to be like a normal meal kit and take 30 minutes, but nope!

I loved that it wasn’t like a packaged meal either. All the ingredients were prepped for me, but they were fresh. For instance, our carnitas came with a bag of already chopped peppers and onions. And the salmon meal came with pre-made quinoa and kale mix that I just heated up with a simple saute in the frying pan.

Meal Options

We could choose from several meal options, with different diet types, but I was pleased with the three meals Gobble chose for my family, so I didn’t make any changes. You can search all of the upcoming meals on Gobble, but here are the meals we received just to give you an idea.

Seared Salmon with Kale Quinoa and Broccoli, Cauliflower, and Béarnaise Sauce

My daughter and I made this for a mother/daughter date night and it was incredible! She loves salmon and so do I, so this was the perfect fit. She had never made salmon before, but the simple instructions helped her do it and gain her confidence. The only problem was she wanted more when we were done! 🙂 But honestly, this meal could have easily fed three or four of us, especially with all the extra veggies we had as sides.

Pork Carnitas with Tri-Color Fusilli Pasta (Kid-friendly meal)

I would have never thought to make this recipe myself, I’ve only had pork carnitas in a burrito wrap. I shouldn’t have been skeptical though, because this meal was also incredible! We all went back for seconds, and still had enough left over for my husband’s lunch the next day. I don’t know why they say this would only be 2 servings—it definitely fed 5 of us!

Pan-Seared Chicken Breast with Greek Couscous & Asparagus

We will be making this for dinner tonight and I’ll get back to you and let you know how it goes.

Surprise inside Box

The box came shipped quite nicely, and insulated well. Inside everything was very organized in bags—simple to take out and move to fridge. And meat was on the bottom in the coldest spot.

We were thrilled to find a special surprise in our box—two pieces of cookie dough to bake some fresh chocolate chip cookies with one of our meals. My daughter and I enjoyed them on our date night, and they were so scrumptious I didn’t have time to take a photo! But here’s what they looked like before we baked them. 🙂

Cost of Gobble Meal Kit

You do pay a little bit more for a Gobble Kit, then some other offers because all the prep work is done for you, but the price is still pretty reasonable if you do the math.

They advertise that you get 6 meals for $36, but really they are saying 3 meals with 2 servings each. I think it’s kind of misleading how they say that, and I wanted to make it clear for you.

For each of the 3 meals we received, we paid $12, and they fed about 4 adults (we have 2 adults and 3 kids and we had plenty—but you could easily add extra salad or applesauce or a simple side for kids too).

Therefore if we paid $12 for a meal of pork carnitas, and it fed 5 people, it cost us about $2.50 per person. I’ll let you decide if thats worth it for you and your family, but for us, since we love to try new things, it was a delightful meal treat. Cooking from scratch would certainly be cheaper, but would also take you longer to do all the prep. And sometimes we just have busy schedules, right?! 🙂

>> Get 6 meals (3 meal kits) for $36! <<

Again, they’ll advertise 6 meals, but its really 6 servings they are saying. I just want to be completely honest with you that you’re not getting 6 different meals. I do still think its a great deal and one worth sharing about though! 🙂
